Boxwood
0 commentsBoxwood is our well-known shrub that decorates gardens and parks and is usually formed into various shapes that each exterior decoration requires.
It grows very slowly, which is why it is very rare to find boxwood trunks larger than 20cm. A 20cm trunk can take over 100 years to grow, always depending on the environmental conditions.

Its slow growth ranks it among the rarest and most expensive woods.
The heartwood is cream to light yellowish brown in color. In some logs heartwood is dark brown to black in color. The texture is rough and uniform.

It has a high density of 0,51 to 0,83 g/cm3, relatively high hardness and moderate dimensional stability. It shows good behavior in machining, and in hand machining. It is considered ideal for carving. Painting and finishing is done without problems.

Boxwood jewelry has a light uniform color reminiscent of ivory.
